March 24th Blog Update

Far far too long since my last blog - February 2013.....so thought it about time I add an update.

Its now 'officially' the start of Spring......if anyone has seen any of it can you please let me know where you found it. I cant seem to recall the last bit of decent weather we had, although that could be an age thing lol.

Ive attended a couple of Wedding Fairs organised by http://www.lrs-events.co.uk/ since the last blog. Both well attended. Really nice to meet and chat to potential Brides and Grooms as they are excited, or stressed, about planning the biggest days of their lives.

In addition to the fairs I am now a registered Wedding supplier to http://www.ukbride.co.uk/ which Im hoping will also bring more business my way.

Beauty Amongst Dereliction

Below are a number of portraits which I have titled 'Beauty Amongst Dereliction

The model is Loren Fernyhough, the beautiful daughter of a Julie Simpson a colleague of mine. Loren wore a beautiful dress which she had originally bought for her prom, and she looked stunning. The location - is obviously a derelict building. The idea was to capture the beauty of the model against the backdrop of destruction and rubble. I was in my element and, Loren was a star, she was fantastic to work with. Below are a few images from the shoot.

Early Mornings
Back to early mornings. The three images below are a sample of images taken one early morning down Fishermans Bay - I think thats the name of the place - near South Shields. Anyway the light was stunning
and I was in my element (again)....camera on my tripod, aperture and focal point sorted selected, exposure checked and double checked....mirror lock up and press the shutter.....love it.

Claire and Stephen Pre-Wedding Shoot.
Soon I shall have the pleasure of photographing the wedding of  Claire and Stephen Auty at the beautiful Jesmond House Hotel.
So recently myself, Claire, Stephen and their lovely, intelligent son Benjamin, met at South Shields Marine Park for their pre-wedding shoot. You will notice that we had sunshine too - thats were I last seen it lol. We had a great time. Little Benjamin was a star too. He was such a very bright young chap and Claire and Stephen should be so proud of their son. As he is so very bright and was an absolute diamond, and certainly not camera shy.
Here are a few from their day and Im so looking forward to their wedding and meeting their lovely families.

A Taste of Winter
In my last blog I did mention that it had been tipping it down with snow - well you just have to get out with your camera don't you. I tried my best but the conditions weren't the best, but here are a couple from the day. Unfortunately, it was back to the Seven Sisters again......

January 2013

17th January 2013 - Happy New Year!!

Long time since my last blog update, so here's been happening.............

Liz and Pete's Wedding
December 21st was Liz and Pete's wedding at Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island. A few images of the wedding will be downloaded soon...........so add me to your favourites for immediate updates.

Due to the timings of the wedding and the tides we could not get across to the island until 11.00pm on the 20th, so that was a good enough excuse to drive up earlyish and stop off at Bamburgh village for a meal.
Singing along to Christmas Carols by Frank Sinatra, Judy and I were soon feeling in the Christmas spirit and as we arrived in Bamburgh village Frank was singing 'Hark the Herald Angels Sing'........
As we entered the village we had to stop the car the village green was festooned with lights on the trees and illuminated Christmas deer, sledges............well you get the picture It was beautiful, and we must have sat there for some 10 minutes just taking in the scenery and listening to the Christmas Carols. Perfect.

After a lovely meal in the Victoria Hotel we crossed the causeway, which felt quite eerie with it being pich black and, with the bad weather we were experiencing, the sea, which normally wouldnt be on the cause way, was being blown across by the strong winds making it even trickier (I had visions of helicopters having to be called out lol)

Home for the next couple of nights was the lovely www.bamburghview.co.uk, which is run by Jamie and Carol Morrow, two wonderful hosts. This was our second stay at the Bamburgh View and we were welcomed like long lost friends by our hosts. This bed and breakfast comes HIGHLY recommended. Not only is it very comfortable, clean, quiet and in situated on this lovely island, but Jamie's breakfasts keep you going the the entire day. .

The wedding itself was great, Liz and Pete looked fanatstic and their guests were good fun to be around. Not forgetting their son............who wasnt shy when being in front of the camera (as you will see when I download some images). The day went very well but unfortuntely, the weather wasn't what we ordered. It was windy, wet and very grim, so there was very little opportunity for pictures that would normally include this spectacular setting.
All credit to Liz and Pete who still enjoyed their day whilst we made the most of the interior of the castle for the majority of their pictures.

The evening saw everyone congregate in 'The Ship', for a few drinks and a céilídh with music by the very talented                      band.

Our congratulations to Liz and Pete for a very long happy life together.


Landscapes
I have also managed to get myself out and grab some new landscapes - you still cant beat the feeling of being out there absorbing the light of a brand new day or catching the last dregs of the days light. Here are some for you to peruse.

Cullercoats Bay
This image wasnt quite how I had visualised - but this is how it was on the day.....
I had planned (or so I thought) that my timings would include the tide receeding across the old stone jetty whilst catching the sunrise. However, either the tide timetable was wrong or, I read it wrong (more likely) but the tide had receeded a little while before I got there. Ho hum.
I still quite like the result, with the lead in lines of the jetty and the warm feel of the early morning light catching the row of houses. Two images were exposed (one for the foreground and one for the sky) before doing some localised blending in Photoshop.

Seven Sisters 
Been many a few year since I last took images of the 'Seven Sister'
The top one was a blending of two images.
The second image was taken a week later using a 10stop filter to give more drama to the image. Finally cropped to give a panoramic.

Roker Pier
An incredible sunrise on Roker Pier a couple of weeks ago.

Todays the 19th and its tipping it down with snow...get the batteries charged lets get some great winter images in the bag
